Fonda, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Pickleball players in Pocahontas County will soon have a dedicated place to play. The Fonda Hometown Pride Committee have announced they secured a grant from the Iowa Economic Development Board to construct new pickleball courts in town.
The Community Action and Tourism and Attraction Grant offered through Iowa Economic Development Authority assists towns like Fonda to build recreational, education, cultural and entertainment projects.
Pickleball is the newest sport sweeping the nation, and it resembles tennis, but on a smaller court, and all ages are really getting into the action. The Fonda Pickleball project is slated for the area right next to the swimming pool off Highway 7.
Thanks to Sandy Wells and Melissa Devaraux for checking in with KICD and Northwest Iowa Now News, and they’ve invited us to the Red Ribbon cutting when the courts are completed next year.
