Sioux Rapids, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Gabrielson Park-Gustafson Lake south of Sioux Rapids is now stocked with 600 pounds of Rainbow Trout for the public to catch throughout the ice fishing season. According to Greg Johnson, Conservation Board Director, current ice conditions at the lake are sufficient for walking and congregating in small groups. He also said most of the fish stocked at Gabrielson ranged from half to three-quarter of a pount, but there were quite a few bigger fish as well.

Trout can be easy to catch using a variety of bait including a small piece of worm on a hook or a piece of corn on a small jig.

A reminder all Iowa DNR fishing regulations must be followed, and anglers need a valid fishing license.
