Cherokee, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — At the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors meeting (March 17), County Assessor Nathaniel Story reported that Glacier’s Edge Wind Farm near Marcus, has reached its full taxable value.

Because Iowa wind projects follow a 7-year graduated tax scale, the 82 wind towers in western Cherokee County have finally hit their maximum 30% assessment cap. It could mean lower resident tax bills, or the supervisors could keep the extra revenue for projects like road and bridge repairs.

A public hearing will be held at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, March 24 at 8:45 am to discuss the tax levy.
