Lake Park, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The youngest students at Harris Lake Park – displaced when the old building got steam and water damage – will move to their new, permanent classrooms next week. Superintendent Mike Thompson says there will be no school Friday or Monday so staff can get everything ready.

Some of the students have already gotten a preview.

Thompson tells KICD News the district had already anticipated moving into the new wing – attached to the Middle and High School – ahead of the March completion date, even before issues emerged at the 1976 building.

Minor repair work is still being done at the old building in case a buyer comes forward. A ribbon-cutting and public open house at the new elementary will be held in the spring.
