LAKE PARK, IA (Northwestiowanow) – The Harris-Lake Park Community School District is having a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening of its new elementary school this Saturday.
The ribbon cutting will be held in front of the building at 1360 140th Street in Lake Park August 1 at 1p.m.
The event will include a dedication to the building. remarks from district leaders, an opening of a time capsule by the class of 1976, and tours of the new facility.
Harris-Lake Park Superintendent Mike Thompson says the new school is the result of more than two years of planning and community input.
Beyond providing updated classrooms, Thompson says the facility has several new features.
Following the ceremony, the public will be invited to tour the new elementary school, as well as the district’s new bus barn.
The event is part of Lake Park’s Farmer Appreciation Days celebration.
The Lake Park Fire Department will serve lunch beginning at noon, and the HLP Alumni Association will host an alumni connection table during the festivities.
