Orange City, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Emmetsburg and Hinton collided for the Class 2A Region 3 Volleyball Championship Wednesday night.

Hinton was able to flex their muscles early, taking set 1 25-14. Bailey Boeve started off an impressive night with 4 kills and a Serve Ace. The Emmetsburg hitters couldn’t find any room around a stonewall of Blackhawk blockers.

Set 2 was also all Hinton. Emmetsburg wasn’t making many mistakes to give up points; it was just an onslaught of hits from one of the state’s most dominant front lines. In the 2nd set, Boeve had 4 kills, Karlyn Kovarna 5, and Adalyn Ortegren another 4. The Blackhawks also used a 7-point run with Boeve on the serve to cruise to a 2-0 lead.

In set 3, Emmetsburg had a strong start and led by as much as 3 early. Bailey Boeve took over though down the stretch, piling up a whopping 7 kills and Hinton tore away to win 25-16, taking the match 3 sets to 0.

Hinton will advance to the Class 2A State Volleyball Tournament with a 28-2 record. The Blackhawks take the #3 seed and will play the #6 seed Regina Catholic of Iowa City at 4:25 on November 4th at Xtream Arena in Coralville. The winner plays either the #2 seed Dike-New Hartford, who is the team that eliminated Hinton from their last two State Tournaments, or the #7 seed Aplington-Parkersburg.

Emmetsburg’s season comes to an end with a 25-5 record in a season where they claimed the Twin Lakes Conference Title.
