Lake Park, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Residents in the Harris Lake Park School District approved an 18.6-million-dollar bond issue just a month ago, but construction is already underway.

Elementary Principal Mike Thompson – who becomes Superintendent in July – says about $1.4 million dollars in Local Option Sales Tax will be used for upgrades at the existing middle and high school.

As hoped, bids on the construction of the new elementary wing came in under budget, so there’s money left for a 900-thousand-dollar bus barn.

The bus barn will be constructed East of the elementary school, which itself is being built East of the existing middle and high structure.
