Hull, IA (northwestiowanow) — A Hull man has pleaded guilty to federal child exploitation charges involving child sexual abuse material and artificial intelligence.

According to federal prosecutors, law enforcement received CyberTips from a cellphone cloud-storage provider that included AI-generated material involving known minors from the local area.

Investigators later executed search warrants on social media accounts and electronic devices, uncovering 50 videos of child pornography and additional AI-generated material involving local minors.

31-year-old Evan Marra of Hull pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Sioux City to possession of child pornography and producing, receiving and distributing obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children.

Marra faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison. He could also face a fine of up to $500,000 and at least five years of supervised release after imprisonment.
