Des Moines, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Somehow despite all of those high-profile layoffs at places like Winnebago and John Deere, Iowa Workforce Development says the number of jobless workers in August was DOWN from last year.

Workforce Director Beth Townsend says the average length of benefits being paid out is less than 10 weeks.
