Algona, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Since 1959 Iowa State University Extension has been checking water moisture levels in the same locations twice a year. Northwest Iowa ISU Agronomist Gentry Sorenson says things improved since last fall.
In other locations: Calumet went from 7.9 inches of available moisture to 8.4, Newell 5.8 to 8.7, Rolfe gained over three inches going from 4.2 inches last fall to 7 and a half this spring, and Sibley went from 6.6 to 7.3.
The only location to get drier was Sanborn, which had 8.1 inches of available water last fall and 7.5 inches now.
