Cherokee, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) – Last summer, a significant archaeological dig took place at the historic Kirchner Log House in Peterson, and archeologist. Mark Anderson is going to share his artifacts and insights Wednesday, April 16 at the Sanford Museum and Planetarium in Cherokee.
Anderson has been with the State Archeological team for over 32 years, and after retiring to Northwest Iowa, found a chance to keep his curiosity satisfied as the Sanford Museum Archeoligist doing projects he finds most interesting. Anderson and his colleagues started the Kirchner project with few expectations.
Following the successful excavations, restoration work has been completed, and the public is invited to a special presentation detailing the findings of last year’s dig in CHEROKEE at the museum (NOT at the Kirchner Cabin itself) on Wednesday, April 16th, at 6:30 PM for an insightful look at the Kirchner Log House and the fascinating information uncovered during the excavation.
