Lake Park, IA (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Lake Park Iowa is the most recent city to join the Hometown Pride program, and Mayor Matt Carstensen explains the program starts with getting more community members involved.

The Hometown Pride program also helps communities learn more about fundraising, getting more local volunteers for projects, and generally improving leadership and quality of life.

Carstensen says the city has a 5 year commitment, and will have a coach who works with local officials on these goals. Lake Park is responsible for $1200 of that salary a year, and the state pays the rest through Keep Iowa Beautiful nonprofit.

The Hometown Pride program has served 109 counties and communities since it’s inception in 2012. You can learn more by checking out the link on this story NorthwestIowaNow.com
