A little over a month ago, the Iowa Lakes Baseball team was en route to Arkansas for a busy weekend of early season, non-conference baseball games when the bus crashed, injuring many, and taking the life of Carter “Tater” Johnson.
When the team met to decide how to move forward, coach Chris Witzke says the overwhelming majority of the athletes wanted to not only get back on the field but play the full remainder of their schedule.
Sophomore Spencer Kober of Rochester, Minnesota, talked about the team’s mindset heading back in to games.

Not only did Iowa Lakes play their first games in over a month, but the Lakers picked up a two-game sweep of Minnesota North-Mesabi Range in Minneapolis’ US Bank Stadium on March 13th.
Iowa Lakes Baseball begins ICCAC play with a 3-game series this weekend in Marshalltown against the Tigers.
