DAKOTA CITY, IA (Northwestiowanow) — A former Livermore man will spend the rest of his life in prison following convictions connected to sexual abuse cases in two northwest Iowa counties.
On Monday, May 5, 38-year-old Nathaniel Lee Depew pleaded guilty in Humboldt County District Court to five counts of Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, all Class B felonies.
The charges stem from a report of alleged abuse made to law enforcement in May of 2025. Following an investigation, Depew was arrested in Humboldt County in August of that year.
As part of the same court proceedings, Depew also pleaded guilty to two additional counts of Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree filed in Pocahontas County.
Following victim impact statements from the victim and family members, Judicial District 2 Chief Judge Amy Moore sentenced Depew to five 25-year prison terms, all ordered to be served consecutively, totaling 125 years in prison.
Depew will be required to serve at least 70 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
The investigation was assisted by multiple state and local agencies, including the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.
