Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The city of Spencer awarded the 2026 discernment of Lodging Tax and Local Option Sales Tax grant this week.
LINC receive the top $25,000 grant. Jill Barr is director of the group which is entering its fourth year of service.

 

And as daycare continues to be a priority for the community, Trinity Lutheran Daycare was given $15,000. Director Jody Kleve says that will create a new service.

 

Other recipients of Local Option Sales Tax grants are the Spencer Chamber Foundation, Spencer Art Alliance, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and Occasions.

By law Hotel Motel tax proceeds are earmarked for activities aimed at bringing more visitors to the community. The top recipients were the Clay County Fair marketing department and Spencer Community Theatre, each receiving $15,000.
