Sibley, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Nolan McGawan, the Lyon County Attorney, has pleaded guilty to a first-offense OWI charge. He was arrested in February after being stopped for speeding and showing signs of intoxication. McGawan reportedly refused field sobriety tests and did not provide a sample for testing.

McGawan is ordered to serve 2 days jail time, or attend an approved weekend diversion program, and he will pay a fine of $1,250.

While court records indicate a sentencing agreement between McGawan and prosecutors, the specific details of that agreement have not been publicly disclosed. McGawan has been serving as Lyon County Attorney since January, after serving in the same role in Osceola County since 2017.
