Sioux City, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — A Dakota City man with a history of fleeing law enforcement – once in Pocahontas County – appeared in federal court Tuesday. 40-year-old Nathan Nickless pled guilty to two counts of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and failure to appear in court.
In August of 2023 Nickless fled from Fort Dodge police but was apprehended trying to climb a steep river embankment. The backpack he possessed had a pistol and multiple bags of narcotics including 200 grams of meth. He was released to appear in court but never showed up.
A Pocahontas County Deputy saw Nickless at the Casey’s Store in Pocahontas July 9th of last year. The Deputy and other officials gave pursuit. They found Nickless’ disabled car near Rolfe, but they abandoned the search for him the next day.
Then on September 28th Humboldt County authorities were informed Nickless was in town. When they located him, he once again led them on a car chase, ditched the car near a river and fled on foot – once again eluding arrest.
He was found hiding in a residence four days later.
He is currently in the custody of the US Marshal’s office pending sentencing by a judge.
