Emmetsburg, IA (northwestiowanow.com) – On Saturday, June 15, 2025, at approximately 11:00 PM, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested Neptali Materan, 53, of Kansas City, Kansas on a valid Palo Alto County arrest warrant.

The warrant was issued for Materan as a material witness in connection with an attempted murder charge that occurred in Emmetsburg earlier the same day.

Materan was unable to post the required $25,000 cash-only bond and is currently being held in the Palo Alto County Jail. Further details regarding the attempted murder incident have not yet been released.
