Milford, Ia (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Milford City Council has received feedback on a proposal to change highway 71 from four lanes to three lanes the entire distance through town. Their traffic consultant – Jennifer McCoy from Bolton and Menck Engineering – says statistics indicate it would be better, but the public is not convinced.

The council tabled action last night because the mayor and one council member were absent. Councilmembers Chris Hinshaw and Kyle Mohni would like to see the posted speed limit in Milford changed, but the only option given them by the D-O-T is experimenting.

Highway 71 through Milford is scheduled to be reconstructed in 2030 and the city and state wants to start drawing up plans for either a three-lane or four-lane highway. The next regular council meeting is scheduled for April 14th.
