Mason City, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Boys Swim team competed at Districts on Saturday in Mason City.

In the 200y Freestyle, Oliver Miller took 7th with a time of 1:50.41.

For the 50y Freestyle, Ray Kaiser went 23.87 to place 8th.

Oliver Miller qualified for State in the 500y Freestyle, clocking 4:58.45 to place 7th.  That time will seed him 23rd for the State Meet.

In the 100y Backstroke, Ray Kaiser is on his way to State after placing 7th with a time of 56.1.  He will be seeded 26th.

For the 100y Breaststroke, Owen Van Otterloo will move on to the State meet with a time of 1:02.8 which placed him 6th and seeds him 31st.

In the team scores, Cedar Falls won with 491 points, Dowling Catholic of West Des Moines is 2nd at 422, and Southeast Polk placed 3rd with 341.  Spencer was 5th out of the 8 teams with 168.

Coach Jesse Kuehler said, “Couldn’t be prouder of the boys…Everyone cut time and swam their fastest races of the year…We had such a fast and competitive district meet, so we knew we had to be really solid throughout the day to give ourselves a chance at the State Meet.”
