WINDOM, MN (Northwestiowanow.com) — Windom, Minnesota Police have formally charged 38-year-old Jamie Voelker with second degree murder with intent – not premeditated, and second-degree murder without intent in a fatal shooting Wednesday.
Police were called to an address on 12th Avenue in that Southwest Minnesota community on the report of a shooting. The victim was 70 year old Kathryn Voelker who died of blood loss due to the shooting according to the State’s Medical Examiner. A witness told police she was shot with a small-caliber handgun seven times.
Jamie Voelker was taken into custody at a different address a short time later after another Windom resident reported a break-in and a man hiding in the bathroom.
As of 6 o’clock Sunday night he was being held on 100 thousand dollars bond at the Cottonwood County Jail in Windom.
