Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Morris Duggan has taken a path from Germany to Allianz Field in St. Paul, where he plays for Major League Soccer’s Minnesota United. Part of that Journey was a stop in Spencer, where he played for the Iowa Lakes Men’s Soccer team in 2021. Duggan returned to the Spencer Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College on Saturday to speak with the current athletes on the Laker Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams.
Duggan did not play at any Major academies in Germany, and at the age of 19, it is unlikely Professional Soccer is in the cards for someone in his situation.
Going to the US presented a number of challenges, which ultimately led him to Iowa Lakes.
Spencer was a great place for Duggan to grow in his game.
After a year with Iowa Lakes, Duggan moved on to a strong NCAA Division I program in Marshall.
After being drafted in the 3rd Round of the MLS Draft, Duggan battled up the Developmental ladder and achieved his dream.
You can hear the full interview with Morris Duggan on tomorrow’s episode of the KICD Sports Beacon Podcast, which will be released on Northwest Iowa Now.com, and can be found under the podcasts tab.
