Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Spencer Hospital has officially announced the promotion of Alison Muilenburg, RN, BSN to the role of Director of Medical Oncology at Abben Cancer Center. Muilenburg joins Abben with a proven track record in patient care. President Brenda Tiefenthaler says her compassion and commitment make her an excellent choice.

Muilenburg has been a staple at Spencer Hospital for 8 years, serving as a Med/Surg charge nurse, and the last two years providing direct care to patients within Abben Cancer Center.

Muilenburg takes the lead at a time when Spencer Hospital is celebrating its 10th consecutive year as a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital, the only facility in Iowa to achieve such a streak. The Abben Cancer Center medical oncology team now includes Muilenburg, Dr. Louis Cuervo, MD, Jolie Threlkeld, MSN, ARNP, FNP-BC and Kayla Heller, ARNP and radiation therapy by Dr. D.B. Nguyen.
