Sheldon, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Sixty years of service, sixty years of students, and sixty years of excellence. This year, Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon is celebrating a major milestone: its 60th anniversary. We spoke with Dan Dykstra, a member of the very first class to walk through the doors and took us back to the early days, when the ‘campus’ looked a little different than it does today.
For Dan and his classmates, the early years were defined by a sense of adventure and meeting new people, but it was also about preparing for the workforce.
From a small operation in a downtown truck stop to a sprawling campus serving thousands of students annually, NCC has a college that keeps looking to the future.
Whether you’re an alum, a former employee, or a community member, the college invites you to share your stories as they celebrate this anniversary year. You can find out more at the Northwest Iowa Community College website here.
