Sheldon, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — We have new information on that 3am fire yesterday in Sheldon.
Fire Chief Brad Hindt now tells us the pickup that caught on fire was actually stuck in the back yard at 718 9th Street, and friction and heat from the spinning tires caused the vehicle to start on fire. The fire caused severe damage to the back of the home at that address – where the siding was pulled off to check for hot spots – and there was minor damage to the siding and trim next door at 908 8th Street and a pickup there.
Sixteen firefighters were on the scene for a little over two hours and were assisted by Sheldon Police and the O’Brien County Sheriff’s department.
