ESTHERVILLE, IA (Northwestiowanow) – New Estherville Lincoln Central Superintendent outlines his role and future plans for the district.

Andrew Armstead is wrapping up six months as the new superintendent for ELC. He says the transition has been smooth.

Armstead says two major initiatives are underway in the district. The first is a multi-phase upgrade to their athletic facilities.

The total project is estimated at $3.7 million, with phase one costing about $2.5 million. A donor has already pledged $250,000 towards phases two and three.

Armstead also highlighted a state literacy grant recently awarded to the district.

The three-year grant will fund a literacy term, professional development, and high-quality instructional materials from Head Start through 12th grade.  The superintendent says these efforts will improve student opportunities and position ELC for long-term success.
