Wahpeton, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Just ahead of the first round of thunderstorms Sunday morning, a sail boat capsized on West Lake Okoboji jeoparding the five boaters who were on board.

The Iowa DNR Lakes Patrol, Lakes Area Fire Boat, Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire and Rescue, Milford Fire Department, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, and iowa State Patrol all answered the call around 10:30am between Gull Point State Park in Wahpeton and Pillsbury Point across the lake in Arnolds park.

Initial reports indicated all or some of the five were trapped beneath the vessel.

Other boaters had gotten them to safety by the time officials got there. No injuries were reported.
