Milford, IA (KICD) — The Okoboji school board says they have the required signatures to place a 69-million-dollar bond issue for a new elementary school on the General Election ballot on November 5th. 971 were necessary, but volunteers gathered 1,175 signatures to make sure.

Superintendent Todd Abrahamson tells Northwest Iowa Now that in addition to the new elementary, the bond issue would fund upgrades and expansion at the High School building.

The school board certified the signatures and voted to proceed with the bond issue at a special meeting last week.  Abrahamson says the school district will hold public informational meetings before the vote.

In Iowa, school bond issues may only be held in conjunction with general elections.
