SPENCER, IA (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — The Clay County Board of Supervisors met last Tuesday for their final session of May, approving more than $423,000 in county expenditures.

The board also rescheduled a public hearing for the fiscal year 2026 county budget amendment. That hearing is now set for Tuesday, June 9th at 9:15 AM.

In other business, the board met for a practical disaster training simulation at the Emergency Operations Center on West 4th Street. Emergency Management Director Eris Tigges led the discussion-based exercise focusing on flooding.

Attendees worked through scenarios using new national weather service maps and charts to identify roles and responsibilities during an active disaster.

The next regular Clay County Board of Supervisors meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9th at 8:30 AM at the Administration Building.
