Graettinger, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Following severe weather on May 17th, a disaster proclamation has been issued for Palo Alto County.

Kayla Hagen with Palo Alto Emergency Management Agency says a temporary Disaster Assistance Center is opening next week, to help residents recover, especially hard-hit Graettinger.

On Wednesday, May 27th, residents can visit Graettinger City Hall between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to meet with case advocates and apply for state grants.

The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program offers up to $7,000 per qualifying household to cover storm-related expenses like home repairs or replacing personal property.

 If you are applying, remember to bring your ID, proof of income, and any receipts from storm damage. You can also apply online at homelandsecurity.iowa.gov/assistance.
