Emmetsburg, IA (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Palo Alto County has made a significant change to its tax policy. The Board of Supervisors has voted to repeal Ordinance 11-23, a measure that divided property taxes in the Palo Alto County Industrial Park Urban Renewal Area.
This decision, formalized in Ordinance 2-25-2025, means the county will no longer collect incremental property tax revenues from that specific area. Essentially, a previous tax incentive, designed to spur development in the industrial park, is being discontinued.
The Board of Supervisors approved the repeal on January 21st. Officials haven’t released specific reasons for the repeal, but it comes after the original ordinance was enacted in November of 2024.
This change could impact future development and tax revenue within the Palo Alto County Industrial Park.
