Little Rock, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Nearly one year after the death of a six-week old infant in Lyon County, the Department of Criminal Investigation has charged his parents.

In a news release to Northwestiowanow.com the DCI says Sydney and Brenan Schneidermann of Little Rock were taken into custody Saturday without incident. Sydney Schneidermann has been charged with 1st Degree Murder and Child Endangerment Resulting in Death. Brenan Schneidermann was charged with one count of Child Endangerment Resulting in Death.

The baby’s mother took him to the emergency room in Rock Rapids September 10th of 2023. The boy was flown to a hospital in Sioux Falls where he died two weeks later. Doctors said the child had a swelled brain and bruised neck which was consistent with child abuse, and an autopsy revealed brain trauma and fractured ribs
