(Northwestiowanow.com) — Friday was the deadline for candidates to file in the June primaries in Iowa.

In Clay County there is a FIVE-way race for the Republican nomination in Clay County Supervisor District #3. Incumbent Barry Anderson is being challenged by Brandon Edmonds, Sharon Johannsen, Kim Kroger, and Brent Trierweiler.
Incumbent Treasurer LeAnn Black, incumbent Recorder Sheila Weeks, and Incumbent County Attorney Travis Johnson are all seeking re-election unopposed. Black and Weeks are Republicans and Johnson is a Democrat.

There are THREE contests in Dickinson County. In Supervisor District #4 incumbent Steve Clark is being challenged for the Republican nomination by Thaddeous Cook.
Two incumbents have selected NOT to run again. Kim Wermerson is NOT running in District #1. Two Republicans have filed: Dan Taylor and Beth Will. And Bill Leupold is voluntarily giving up the district #2 Supervisor seat. Curtis Rouse is the sole Republican to file.

And there’s a race for County Attorney. The current, appointed County Attorney – Melanie Summer Bauler – is being challenged by a former County Attorney – Bethany Brands Lampe).

Incumbent Republican Treasurer Kris Rowley and incumbent Republican Recorder Ann Ditsworth are seeking re-election unopposed.

Both parties hold their primaries June 2nd. Non-party and third-party candidates still have time to register for the fall election, and both parties can hold special nominating conventions to get candidates on the November ballot.
