Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — We told your earlier this week the city of Spencer has sent a certified letter to the owner of a block fronting Highway 71 South of the bridge with an ultimatum on clearing the property of buildings ruined in the flood. City Manager Kevin Robinson informed the city council Monday night they have gotten a response.
The city was prepared to clean up the block on the Southwest corner of Grand Avenue and 4th Street Southwest themselves but would prefer the owner do it.
Damaged walls, doors, and windows can be observed from the street and city officials fear squatters moving into the buildings when the weather turns cold.
