Spencer, IA (Northwest Iowa Now) — The former Tangey Hotel – now known as Grand Avenue Community Outreach – has been sold to a Spencer man.

Andrew Maurer of Spencer is partnering with a non-profit organization to purchase the building. Maurer tells Northwest Iowa Now his family has a long history with the landmark building:

It was Earl Tangney who originally built the hotel in Spencer.  Mauer has extensive experience in remodeling and building repairs all over the country. His goal is to repurpose the building to help Spencer grow:

The main goal for right now, is it get the building cleared and winterized before more damage occurs.
