Sioux Rapids, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Big Country 107.7 had coverage of Sioux Central and Alta-Aurelia Basketball in Sioux Rapids Tuesday night.
In the girls contest, the Warriors jumped out to a 15-11 lead over the Rebels. Sioux Central would close that gap to 1 in the 2nd, trailing Alta-Aurelia 28-27 at the half.
Sioux Central would outscore the Warriors 26-15 in the second half, locking down Alta-Aurelia defensively to win 53-43.
Sioux Central jumps back above .500 on the season with the win at 3-2. Avery Wilson led the way for the Rebels with 22 points. 8 different Rebels scored on the evening including 18 off the bench, led by Lindsay Peck with 12.
Alta-Aurelia falls to 2-2 this season. Caitlyn Matson went for 18 on the night to lead 6 Warrior scorers.
It was another closely contested 1st half in the Boys game. Sioux Central led 10-9 after the first quarter and the margin held through the second 8-minute frame with the Rebels leading at halftime 27-25.
It was a big 3rd quarter for Sioux Central that made the difference as the Rebels outscored the Warriors 14-6. Sioux Central would coast to the final buzzer and pick up the 63-51 win.
Sioux Central is now 2-1 on the year. Jack Christian had a big night, scoring 27 points to lead 6 Rebel scorers.
Alta-Aurelia drops to 1-2 in the early season. The Warriors had 3 scorers in double figures led by Saam Sennert’s 15.
Up next for Sioux Central is a road trip to Manson-Northwest Webster on Friday.
Alta-Aurelia has a Thursday contest in Moville against Woodbury Central.
