Estherville, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The city of Estherville has transitioned to an automated recycling pickup vehicle and has some reminders for residents learning the new system.
First of all, there are arrows printed on top of the official collection tubs, the arrows must be facing the street in order for the robotic arm on the truck to work. If containers are not facing the proper direction they will not be emptied.
Also: Containers must be five feet from any obstacle and be within five feet of the curb.
Finally loose bags will no longer be collected during the regular route. An extra pickup can be arranged at city hall, but there will be an additional fee.
