Cherokee, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Cherokee Fire Chief Casey Carpenter has released information about a residential fire Saturday afternoon. His team was dispatched to 722 West Main Street at 3pm and attacked the fire from several entry points, including cutting a hole in the roof. Carpenter says the kitchen sustained fire damage and there was smoke damage to the entire home. There were no injuries but one pet died and another is missing. The fire department was at the scene two hours. The fire is under investigation but is NOT considered suspicious.

The Cherokee County Assessor’s website lists the owner of the property as Kayla Linn.
