STORM LAKE, IA (NorthwestIowaNow.com) – In response to the significant damage caused by recent severe weather events on April 17th and April 20th, 2025, the City of Storm Lake is hosting a presentation by Iowa Legal Aid to assist affected residents. The free event will take place on Monday, April 29, at 5:30 p.m. at King’s Pointe Resort.

Iowa Legal Aid, a statewide non-profit organization providing free civil legal assistance to eligible Iowans, will focus on helping severe weather survivors navigate the legal challenges that often arise in the aftermath of such events. This includes guidance on insurance claims for damaged homes, rentals, and vehicles, addressing potential housing issues and evictions, offering advice on home repair contracts, and assisting with the replacement of lost or damaged legal documents.

Beyond storm-related assistance, Iowa Legal Aid also provides support in other critical areas of civil law, such as preventing unlawful wage garnishments, aiding survivors of domestic violence, and helping individuals access essential government benefits.
