Cherokee, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — A couple of DOT projects will impact major highways leading to Spencer during the Clay County Fair.
Highway 71 has been reduced to one lane for both Northbound and Southbound traffic between County Road B-17 and County Road M-44 on the North side of Spencer. The Iowa DOT District 3 office in Cherokee says crews are finishing median crossovers. The next phase of the process will include the state paving 4th Avenue West in Spencer for a shorter detour.

Highway 18 between Hartley and the O’Brien County Line will close next Wednesday (September 16th) with a projected reopening date of October 1st.
Crews there will be doing regular maintainence to the paving and installing what’s called a “scrub seal” with micro-surfacing.
Both East and Westbound traffic will be routed to O’Brien County Roads M-12, B-20, and M-22.
