Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Did you know there are currently 114 Catholic private schools in Iowa, serving over 32,000 students. And Sacred Heart Catholic School in Spencer is one of 16 school systems in the Sioux City Diocese, covering 14,000 square miles in Northwest Iowa. It’s National Catholic Schools week, and Sacred Heart Principal Tyler Horkey this is a fun week for students, staff and the parish to celebrate their theme.
Sacred Heart School currently enrolls 178 students, with pre-kindergarten through sixth grade and they love celebrating.
Horkey says if a family is interested in a Catholic School education for their child, they do not have to be Catholic, and they can contact the school anytime about enrolling.
Horkey says the foundation of a Catholic education is high academic standards, behavior discipline, and good character outside of the school setting. He says going forward they will continue with service projects and learning how to best unite through faith and community.
