Sanborn, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) – A Sanborn man was arrested Monday on a warrant related to a sex crime involving a minor. Thomas Gengler, 39, faces a charge of lascivious acts with a child, a Class C felony, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Sanborn Police Department with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office.
The arrest stems from a report made by a victim to a therapist in 2020, alleging inappropriate contact by a caretaker.
If convicted of the felony charge, Gengler could receive a prison sentence of up to ten years.
Gengler was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar and was released the same day after posting bond. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, May 27th.
