Sioux Falls, SD (Northwestiowanow.com) — Sanford Health – which already claimed to be the largest rural health system in the United States – says it has completed what it is calling a merger with the Marshfield Clinic System of Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
President and CEO Bill Gassen says the organization – headquartered in Sioux Falls – will stretch from Wyoming to Michigan with 56 thousand employees, 45 hundred physicians, and 45 hospitals.

Member hospitals nearby include Sheldon, Jackson, and Worthington. Sanford Health operates clinics in Sheldon, Sanbourn, and Lake Park.
