Sheldon, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Less than 24 hours notice was given for a special Sheldon City Council meeting for today at 12 noon, but as one council member noted it was sufficient reason for a short time frame.
City Manager Sam Kooiker addressed the council giving his resignation. After his announcement, the board voted unanimously to appoint City Clerk Angela Beckman and Public Works Director Todd Uhl to jointly share the duties of interim City manager until the permanent replacement is found.
Kooiker said he will still be actively involved until his final day on August 3, and he has yet to reveal the reason for his resignation.
Sam Kooiker was previously the Cherokee City Manager before beginning the same position in Sheldon in 2018.
