Alta, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Alta-Aurelia hosted their home Cross Country meet on Monday.
Mareni Brabec of Newell-Fonda picked up the individual win in the Girls race, running a time of 20:40.13. In 2nd was Chloe Broer of West Monona at 20:46.33, Hinton’s Stella Riediger was 3rd at 20:57.44 with Cherokee’s Grace Woodall in 3rd at 21:02.25. Rounding out the top 5 was Sioux Central’s Marley Madsen at 21:12.3.
Also, in the top 10 from the KICD 9-County Area was Sioux Central’s Sage Weber in 6th at 21:15.35, Alta-Aurelia’s Hayden Berkland in 7th at 21:18.44, Newell-Fonda’s Quinn Sievers in 8th at 21:22.64, and Danika Meyer of Newell-Fonda at 21:31.23.
Leading Sibley-Ocheyedan on the day was Amadelaid Benitez at 22:45.66 in 17th.
Up front for Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn was Viviana Delacruz in 23rd at 23:26.55.
Annika Juhl of MMCRU paced the Royals at 24:05.39 in 33rd.
Harris-Lake Park’s Molly Detlefsen was in front of the Wolves at 29:57.27 in 75th.
Anessa Johnson of South O’Brien took 80th at 30:30.95.
In the team score, Sioux Central won with 61 points, in 2nd was Cherokee at 80, and Alta-Aurelia took 3rd at 82.
Sibley-Ocheyedan was 4th, MMCRU 8th, and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn took 9th.
Winning the individual title in the Boys race was Lucos Wernimont of Sioux Central with a time of 16:59.07. Gabriel Bergman of OABCIG was 2nd at 17:06.56, East Sac County went 3-4 with Landon Sporrer at 17:13.59 and Riley Aragon at 17:26.22. 5th was Sioux Central’s Jack Christian at 17:27.39.
Also, in the top 10 from the KICD 9-County Area was Jacob Launderville in 6th at 17:29.72 and Landen Davenport in 10th for South O’Brien at 18:31.23.
Leading Cherokee was Cully Mizner-Fundermann at 18:51.18 in 15th.
Newell-Fonda was paced by Jack Olsen at 19:39.22 in 22nd.
Sibley-Ocheyedan was led by Eric Kleinwolterink in 28th at 19:59.76.
James Carlin of Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn was the top finisher for the Hawks at 20:08.62.
Connor Galles was the top MMCRU runner in 59th at 22:07.
East Sac County retained the Boys title at 55 points, Sioux Central was 2nd at 83, and Cherokee was 3rd with 110.
Alta-Aurelia was 5th, Newell-Fonda 8th, South O’Brien took 9th, and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn was 11th.
