Lake City, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Several KICD area schools attended the Brian Knapp SCC Cross Country Invitational at South Central Calhoun High School in Lake City.

It was the first time we got to see a couple of Twin Lakes Conference Favorites go at it in the Girls Race.  Nora Peterson of Alta-Aurelia came away with a win, flying to a 5k time of 18:05.63, ahead of West Bend-Mallard’s Tyra Schupbach who clocked 18:48.25 to take 2nd.

Breyer Anderson of Alta-Aurelia would finish 5th at 20:46.73 and her teammate Hayden Berkland finished 7th at 20:46.73.  Sioux Central’s top 2 runners, Linnea Bloom and Marley Madsen, went 9th and 10th with times of 21:03.51 and 21:42.81 respectively.

Sioux Central would quietly come away with the team title in the Girls race with 57 points, 9 points ahead of 2nd place Ridge View.  Alta-Aurelia finished 3rd with 71 and West Bend-Mallard was 5th at 104.

It was South Central Calhoun’s Redge Potts pulling away to win the Boys race with a time of 16:51.74.  Sioux Central’s Lucos Wernimont finished 2nd with a time of 17:01.19.  Alta-Aurelia’s Jacob Launderville was 4th at 17:27.41.  Sioux Central would get Leighton Sippel 10th at 18:08.19.

Sioux Central won the Boys team title with 68 points, routing the rest of the field, 31 points under 2nd place.

Alta-Aurelia was 6th, Newell-Fonda 11th, and Pocahontas Area 12th.
