Sioux City, IA (northwestiowanow) — A Sioux City Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Building and Firing Explosive Missiles. Daniel Graben, 60, of Sioux City, Iowa, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison on December 5, 2024, after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm by a felon.

Graben, who had a prior felony conviction, illegally built and fired two improvised explosive missiles on February 28, 2022. Witnesses reported seeing and hearing the missiles explode, and a fire broke out nearby. Law enforcement traced the explosives to Graben’s home, where they found firearms, explosives, and bomb-making materials.

Graben had prior convictions for arson and drug-related offenses. He will also serve three years of supervised release and pay a fine.

The case was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a crime reduction initiative.
