Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Lakes Conference Girls and Boys Tennis Tournaments are currently in action with the Boys in Spirit Lake and the Girls in Storm Lake.

The Girls Tournament was held in Storm Lake. The #1 singles Champion is Sydnee Struecker of Spirit Lake. Sally Androski of Spirit Lake is the Champion in #2 singles. Spirit Lake won #1 doubles with Cambrie Kleckner and Addy Richter. Spencer’s Dakoda Lux and Jill Kabrick were the #2 Doubles Conference Champions.

Spirit Lake claims the Team Conference Championship, Spencer was 2nd, Estherville Lincoln Central 3rd, just in front of 4th Place Cherokee and Storm Lake was 5th.

The All-Conference team is Sydnee Struecker of Spirit Lake, Abbey Crew of Spencer, and Sally Androski of Spirit Lake for Singles. Spencer’s Kennedy Graettinger and Brynn Merchant along with Cherokee’s Elise Anderson and Kadyn Volkert were the doubles team.

The Honorable mentions went to Megan Lausen of Cherokee and Allie Ewalt of Spencer in the singles. Doubles Honorable mentions go to Dakoda Lux and Jill Kabrick of Spencer.

The Boys Tournament was held in Spirit Lake and featured an outstanding battle for the Team Title.

#1 singles went to Spencer’s Colby Sherrod, edging out Alex Profit of Spirit Lake. Luke Schneider of Spirit Lake would win in #2 singles. The Tigers picked up a #1 Doubles Conference Championship with Cole McDanel and Charlie Moeller. The Spirit Lake doubles team of JD Gravert and Tucker Nikkel won #2.

The Tournament was scored by which team had the most Match wins. Spencer and Spirit Lake tied at 14 match wins, so the tiebreaker went to head-to-head, which was also tied. The 3rd tiebreaker was Games lost within the matches, and Spirit Lake had 10 less than Spencer to win the double tiebreaker and the Lakes Conference Title.

The All-Conference team is built of Spencer’s Colby Sherrod, Spirit Lake’s Alex Profit, and his teammate Luke Schneider for singles. The Spencer Doubles team of Cole McDanel and Charlie Moeller along with the Spirit Lake team of JD Schneider and Owen Riphagan also made All-Conference.

Honorable Mentions went to Zeke Funston of ELC and Ade Thomas of Spencer in singles. The doubles team of JD Gravert and Tucker Nikkell from Spirit Lake takes an honorable mention as well.
