Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Boys Golf team hosted their home invitational at the Spencer Golf and Country Club Monday.

Reid Doring would take 6th with a 76 due to having the second-best handicap in a 4-way tie for 5th.

Eli Anderson of Clear Lake was even to Par with a 72 on the day.

Other KICD 9-County Area golfers in the top 10 were Jaizik Miller of Spirit Lake, Charlie Dvergsten of Storm Lake, and Trey Boettcher of Storm Lake.

Clear Lake took the team title with 303, Spencer edged out Kuemper Catholic of Carroll by a stroke to take 2nd with a 312. Storm Lake was 5th, Spirit Lake tied for 8th, Cherokee was 11th, and Emmetsburg tied for 12th.

AJ Stanley just missed the top 10 for the Tigers, taking 11th after having the 3rd best handicap in a 3-way tie for 9th.

Stanley talked about the team performance on the day.

Spencer coach Chase Hough said it was a tough first few holes for the Tigers, but they battled back well.

The Tigers had 3 scorers under 80, Coach Bruning talked about a hard-fought day for the medalist Doring and AJ Stanley.

Spencer will be in another tournament hosted by Western Christian in Sioux Center later this week.
