Cherokee, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Cherokee hosted the Lynn Jolly Relays Thursday with Alta-Aurelia, Estherville Lincoln Central, Newell-Fonda, Spencer, and Storm Lake attending from the KICD 9-County Area.
Storm Lake’s Melanie Chanthapangna won the high jump with a mark of 5 feet with Allie Fehr of West Bend-Mallard 2nd, edging out Newell-Fonda’s Lindsey Wolf in 3rd by attempts.
Isaac Lam of Cherokee took 2nd in the Boys High Jump.
Storm Lake’s Mackenzie Harder won the Long Jump at 16’4” with Ellie Sievers of Newell-Fonda in 3rd.
Peyton Meyer of Alta-Aurelia took gold in the Boys Long Jump at 20’8”.
Hillary Ruschy took first in the Girls Discus for Estherville Lincoln Central at 122’3” and Addie Montag of West Bend-Mallard was 3rd.
Ruschy came back to win the Girls Shot Put as well with a mark of 42’2”.
Cherokee’s Blake Lovell won the Boys Shot Put at 52’7” with ELC’s Liam Brown in 3rd.
The Estherville Lincoln Central Boys team of Smith, Martin, Shatto, and White won the Sprint Medley Relay at 1:39.62.
It was West Bend-Mallard’s Tyra Schupbach winning the 3000m Run for the Girls with a time of 10:53.07. Mareni Brabec of Newell-Fonda was 2nd and Alta-Aurelia’s Lainey Buckendahl took 3rd.
In the Boys 3200m Run, Storm Lake’s Joel Ramirez-Parra won at 10:13.74 seconds with Spencer’s Nathan Rodriguez in 2nd and Alexander Ortega of Storm Lake in 3rd.
The Spencer Girls team of Brown, Morey, Schmidt, and Haldin won the 4x800m Relay at 10:55.61.
The Tiger Boys also won the 4×800 at 8:33.44.
For the Girls Shuttle Hurdle Relay, Spencer won with a team of Stuckey, Buum, Eilts, and Simington running 1:14.54.
Storm Lake’s Mackenzie Harder picked up another gold in the 100m Dash at 12.52 seconds with West Bend-Mallard’s Maddie Fehr 2nd.
The Tornado Boys had Garbieno Weno finish 3rd in the Boys 100m Dash.
The Newell-Fonda Girls team of Vie, Hinders, Mercer, and Hogrefe won the Distance Medley Relay at 4:32.96.
In the Boys Distance Medley Relay, Spencer’s team of Young, Buum, Erdman, and Rodriguez won at 3:53.62.
For the 400m Dash, Cherokee’s Ellana Mortenson was 2nd and Ellie Sievers of Newell-Fonda 3rd.
The Boys 400m Dash was won by Spencer’s Tate VonEhwegen at 52.38 seconds with Garbieno Weno of Storm Lake in 2nd and Logan Stowater of Cherokee in 3rd.
Spencer’s Girls 4x200m Relay team of Krieg, Simington, Buum, and Hopkins went 1:52.05 to win.
In the Girls 100m Hurdles, Cara Schiltz of Estherville Lincoln Central took 2nd.
Spencer’s Jack Steuben was 2nd in the Boys 110m Hurdles.
For the Girls 800m Run, Nora Peterson took 1st for Alta-Aurelia at 2:20.39 with teammate Breyer Anderson in 2nd and Ireland Kennedy of Cherokee in 3rd.
Cherokee’s Logan Stowater won the Boys 800m Run at 2:05.84 with ELC’s Warren Duitsman in 2nd and Jacob Launderville of Alta-Aurelia in 3rd.
Mackenzie Harder of Storm Lake won the girls 200m Dash at 25.7 seconds with Ellana Mortenson of Cherokee in 2nd.
Spencer’s Jack Berends was 2nd in the Boys 200m Dash.
In the Girls 400m Hurdles, Ava Vie of Newell-Fonda was 2nd and Rylee Yager of Estherville Lincoln Central was 3rd.
Spencer would take the top 2 spots in the Boys 400m Hurdles with Preston Pitts winning at 57.6 seconds and Jack Steuben in 2nd. Alta-Aurelia’s Peyton Meyer was 3rd.
Silvia Kampbell of Storm Lake won the Girls 1500m Run at 5:18.91 with Cherokee going 2-3 from Grace Woodall and STefi Beisswenger.
In the Boys 1600m run, Joel Ramirez-Parra won at 4:49.83, Rylei Koppie of Spencer was 2nd.
The Estherville Lincoln Central Boys 4x400m Relay team of Shatto, Martin, White and Smith won at 3:34.02.
In the Girls Team scores, West Lyon won with 96 points, Spencer was 2nd at 85, breaking the tiebreaker with Cherokee. Newell-Fonda was 4th, Storm Lake 5th, Estherville Lincoln Central 6th, Alta-Aurelia 7th, and West Bend-Mallard 9th.
For the Boys Team scores, Spencer was 1st at 114, West Lyon 2nd at 106, and Estherville Lincoln Central was in 3rd with 85 points. Cherokee took 4th, Storm Lake 7th, Alta-Aurelia 9th, Newell-Fonda 11th and West Bend-Mallard took 12th.
